Business Briefs: Bail For Milberg Weiss Lawyers

Two lawyers with Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman, indicted in May for paying more than $11 million in illegal kickbacks to plaintiffs, were granted bail yesterday in their first court appearance in the case. Milberg Weiss, winner of more than $45 billion for investors in securities-fraud cases, and two partners, Steven Schulman, 55, and David Bershad, 66, were charged in a 20-count indictment including counts of mail fraud and conspiracy. Bail for Mr. Bershad was set at $3.5 million and for Mr. Schulman at $2 million by Judge Margaret Nagle in United States District Court in Los Angeles.
