Pre-Watergate survey by Natl Assessment of Educational Progress found that 1/5 of Amers aged 26 to 35 either denied or were undecided about right of a newspaper to criticize elected Govt official; rept on 'Pol Knowledge and Attitudes' is released on Dec 15 by Educ Comm of the States; survey found 3 older age groups (up to age 35) were more supportive of freedom of press; concludes persons living in Northeastern states appear to be more politically knowledgeable than persons in other parts of US

G Tueni, editor and publisher of Lebanese newspaper An Nahar, is released on Dec 14 after being jailed on Dec 5 on charges of publishing so-called secret resolutions of conf of Arab chiefs of state in Algeria in Nov; order to realease Tueni comes from Col T Jalbout, chief mil judge, who rejects argument by mil prosecutor that Tueni be held for trial without bail; Tueni and An Nahar correspondent W Ramadan still face trial on charge that publication of documents caused 'harm to relations between Lebanon and a friendly state'
