Edward Christopher Sheeran, dit Ed Sheeran, né le à Halifax dans le Yorkshire de l'Ouest, est un chanteur, auteur-compositeur-interprète et guitariste anglais.
Sa carrière professionnelle commence en 2011 avec la maison de disques Atlantic Records, qui signe son premier album, +. Cet album obtient un grand succès dans son pays et dans d'autres pays anglophones. Suivent les albums x (2014) et ÷ (2017) : ils rencontrent un succès international encore plus large et massif, qui se poursuit longtemps après leur sortie grâce au streaming. Il sort ensuite en 2019 l'album No.6 Collaborations Project, qui le voit collaborer avec différents artistes, en 2021 l'album = (Equals), autre grand succès malgré des ventes en baisse. Deux albums plus intimistes et moins pop sortent en 2023, - (Subtract) et Autumn Variations ; ils s'effondrent rapidement dans les classements hebdomadaires des ventes d'albums, contrairement aux albums précédents. Son huitième album, Play, sort en septembre 2025. Deux tournées d'Ed Sheeran sont d'énormes succès, le Divide Tour (2017-2019) et le +–=÷x Tour (2022-2025).
Ses chansons les plus populaires sont Shape of You et Perfect, issues de son troisième album ÷, ainsi que Thinking Out Loud (sortie en 2014), Photograph (2014), Castle on the Hill (2017), Galway Girl (2017), I Don't Care, en duo avec Justin Bieber (2019), Bad Habits (2021) et Shivers (2021).
Il contribue par ailleurs à l'écriture de chansons pour plusieurs autres artistes, tels que Justin Bieber (le succès international Love Yourself en 2015), Robbie Williams, James Blunt, Lewis Capaldi, Shakira ou encore les groupes One Direction et BTS. Il collabore aussi avec d'autres artistes, parfois à plusieurs reprises comme avec la chanteuse américaine Taylor Swift, le rappeur américain Eminem ou le rappeur britannique Stormzy.
